Overview
Universite du Quebec a Montreal, also known as UQAM, is a francophone public university located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The university has a reputation for being a culturally diverse and socially engaged institution, with a focus on innovation, creativity, and research.
History
UQAM was founded in 1969 as a result of the merger of various colleges and institutions, including the Provincial Normal School, the School of Social Work, and the École des beaux-arts de Montréal. The university was established as part of the Quebec government’s efforts to expand higher education opportunities in the province.
Organization
UQAM is organized into seven faculties: Arts, Education, Communication, Science, Political Science and Law, Social Sciences, and Environmental Design. There are also several research centers and institutes, including the Centre de recherche sur les innovations sociales (CRISES) and the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST).
Campus
The UQAM campus is located in the heart of Montreal’s Entertainment District, within walking distance of numerous restaurants, theaters, and cultural attractions. Athletics
