Overview

Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities of medical science in Iran. This institution was founded in 1934 and has grown to become a comprehensive university with over 200 programs, including 51 undergraduate programs, 177 postgraduate programs, and 16 fellowship programs. History

The university was officially established in 1934 as the School of Medicine of Tehran, and in 1986, it was renamed to the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Organization

TUMS is governed by a Board of Trustees and an executive board. The Board of Trustees is responsible for approving the general policies, the annual budget, and the appointment of presidents and chancellors. The executive board is responsible for day-to-day operations and the implementation of the policies of the Board of Trustees. The university is divided into four areas: schools and colleges, hospitals and research centers, institutes and centers, and the Health Services Organization (HSO).
