National Formosa University was established in 1991 with the support of Formosa Plastics Corporation, one of Taiwan’s leading industrial companies. It was the first university in Taiwan to be founded by a private enterprise.

National Formosa University has six colleges: College of Engineering, College of Management, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and Technology, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and College of Hakka Studies.
