Overview
Manchester Metropolitan University, also known as MMU, is a public university located in Manchester, England. It was originally established as a teacher training college in 1824 and has since evolved to become a multi-disciplinary university offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in various fields.
History
The institution was first established as the Manchester Mechanics’ Institute in 1824, before becoming the Manchester School of Design in 1838. It continued as a teacher training college until it merged with Manchester Polytechnic in 1970 to form Manchester Metropolitan University.
