Zhou Jianping was born in China in 1968. After completing his studies in the US, Zhou Jianping returned to China and worked for several years in the semiconductor industry. In 2006, he joined the venture capital firm GGV Capital, where he became a managing partner and focused on investing in technology startups. During his time at GGV Capital, Zhou was involved in the early funding rounds of several successful companies, including Alibaba Group and Xiaomi Corporation.

In 2017, Zhou and two other partners left GGV Capital to found their own venture capital firm, China Creation Ventures. The firm focuses on investing in early-stage technology startups in China and has quickly established itself as one of the most active and successful venture capital firms in the country. Some of the companies that China Creation Ventures has invested in include online education platform Zuoyebang, mobile e-commerce platform Pinduoduo, and cloud computing platform QingCloud.

In addition to his work as a venture capitalist, Zhou Jianping is also involved in several other business ventures. He is a board member of the online gaming company NetEase and is also an investor in Tesla, Inc.
