After graduating, Xiang started his career in the construction industry as a project manager for a local construction company in China. In 1994, he founded China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC), which later became known as China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd, with the aim to promote the export of Chinese machinery and equipment.
Under Xiang’s leadership, CAMC grew rapidly and became one of the largest construction and engineering companies in China. The company has completed a number of major projects in China and overseas, including power plants, oil refineries, telecommunications infrastructure, and airport terminals.
