Lim Kok Thay attended the University of London, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He later earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the International Management Institute in Geneva, Switzerland.

Career and Achievements

Lim Kok Thay began his career with Genting Group in 1976, where he started as a Plant Manager at the group’s flagship resort, Genting Highlands Resort. He then held various positions within the company, including Deputy Managing Director and President and Chief Operating Officer. In 2003, he was appointed as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Genting Group.

Under Lim Kok Thay’s leadership, Genting Group has expanded its operations outside of Malaysia and has become one of the largest casino operators in the world. The company’s flagship property, Resorts World Genting, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia, attracting millions of visitors each year. Genting Group also operates casinos in the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as cruise lines and other hospitality and entertainment businesses.

Aside from his role at Genting Group, Lim Kok Thay is also a member of the Board of Directors of other companies, including the Hong Leong Group, which is one of Malaysia’s largest conglomerates.
