Career and Achievements

After completing his studies, Martin Lau started his career as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs Asia in 1994. He later went on to work as a venture capitalist at Morningside Ventures, where he invested in several internet and technology startups.

In 2005, Lau joined Tencent as the company’s chief strategy and investment officer. He played a crucial role in expanding Tencent’s businesses, which includes gaming, social media, e-commerce, and online payments. Under his leadership, Tencent became one of the world’s most valuable companies, with a market capitalization of over $900 billion as of 2021.
