While at Stanford, he became friends with classmate Bill Gates, who would later invite him to join his new software company, Microsoft. Ballmer joined the company in 1980, and quickly rose through the ranks. He was named CEO in 2000, a position he held until 2014.

During his time at Microsoft, Ballmer oversaw the company’s transition from a software firm to a major player in the tech industry, expanding into hardware and services. He also played a key role in negotiations with the US Department of Justice during the antitrust case against Microsoft. Under his leadership, Microsoft became one of the world’s most valuable companies, with a market capitalization of over $600 billion.

In addition to his work at Microsoft, Ballmer is also the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team. He purchased the team for $2 billion in 2014, and has been heavily involved in its operations ever since.

Personal Life:

Ballmer is married to Connie Snyder, whom he met while attending Stanford. They have three children together.
