Born in 1947 to a prominent Thai Chinese family, Prayudh Mahagitsiri was the eldest son of Dhanin and Saisiri Mahagitsiri. Mahagitsiri earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University before pursuing further studies in the United States, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mahagitsiri’s career began in the early 1970s when he joined his father’s company, Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group), which was then a modest animal-feed enterprise. Over the next few decades, he played a pivotal role in transforming CP Group into a massive conglomerate with a presence in over 20 countries. Mahagitsiri’s management style emphasized diversification, innovation, and expansion through strategic partnerships and acquisitions. Under his leadership, CP Group expanded into new industries, such as telecommunications, retail, and e-commerce, and ventured into global markets.

Mahagitsiri has received numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to business and society. He was awarded the Most Admired CEO award by the World Chinese Economic Summit in 2010 and was inducted into the Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in 2013.
