John Elkann was born on April 1, 1976, in New York City, USA. He is the grandson of Gianni Agnelli, who was the former chairman of Fiat and a prominent Italian businessman. He grew up between Italy, Brazil and United States, and attended schools in France, England and Italy. Elkann graduated from the Politecnico di Torino in 2001 with a degree in engineering.

Career and Achievements

After completing his education, Elkann started his career at General Electric working as a business analyst. In 2003, he joined IFIL, which is the holding company of the Agnelli family, as a board member. He became the vice chairman of IFIL in 2004, and in 2016, he became the CEO of Exor, which is the successor to IFIL.

Elkann played a crucial role in the merger between Fiat and Chrysler, which led to the creation of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) group. He became the chairman of FCA in 2011, after the death of his grandfather, and has been instrumental in reshaping the company’s strategy and leading its expansion into new markets. Under his leadership, FCA has acquired numerous brands, including Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Jeep.
