Early Life and Education
Jaran Chiaravanont was born in Bangkok in 1964. His grandfather, Chia Ek Chor, founded Charoen Pokphand Group in 1921 as a small seed shop. Jaran’s father, Dhanin Chearavanont, is also a billionaire and the Chairman of CP Group.
Jaran received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and his Master’s degree in Management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Career and Achievements
Jaran Chiaravanont started his career at Charoen Pokphand Group in 1990 as a manager at CP Lotus, a supermarket chain. He was later appointed as the Managing Director of CP Lotus and helped expand the business to become one of the largest retail chains in Asia.
In 2005, Jaran was appointed as the Group CEO of Charoen Pokphand Group. Under his leadership, the company expanded its operations in Thailand and other countries, including China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Jaran also oversaw the company’s diversification into telecommunications, finance, and real estate.
Jaran’s achievements as a business leader have been recognized by several prestigious awards. In 2019, he was named as the Best CEO in Asia by Institutional Investor magazine. He was also awarded the Order of Brilliant Star by the government of Taiwan in recognition of his contribution to the country’s economic development.
