After completing his degree, Mathile went on to work in various sales positions for several different companies. In 1975, he joined The Iams Company, and was eventually promoted to the role of CEO. Under his leadership, the company’s revenue grew from $500,000 to over $1 billion.

Mathile sold The Iams Company to Procter & Gamble in 1999 for $2.3 billion. He used the money from the sale to start his own investment company, The Mathile Family Office, which focuses on investing in pet food and animal health businesses.

In addition to his business ventures, Mathile is also known for his philanthropy. He has donated millions of dollars to organizations that support education and youth development.
